The reference to this woman is so brief–it would be easy to overlook in the broad scheme of Jesus’ ministry. It’s also one of my favorite passages in the Bible. After suffering physically (from the condition) and emotionally (from the likely ostracism) for more than a decade of her life, she still gathered up enough courage to move through the crowds, to reach out, and to touch the hem of Jesus’ robe. He recognized the faith it had taken, and IN THAT MOMENT she was healed. I don’t even know her name, but she inspires me to be courageous, to reach out, and to trust. “…your faith has healed you.” Beautiful, beautiful words…
