As far as the east is from the west, God has removed the penalty of sin from those who call on Him with a sincere desire to make Him Lord of their lives. Sometimes when I look in the mirror, I do a double-take. What is that woman with crow’s feet, gray hair, and sagging jowls doing standing in front of me??? Other days I look at my reflection and sorrow at the hurtful things I’ve said or done, and I have a hard time meeting my own gaze. But God—our infinitely loving and forgiving God—see something else when He looks at me. Because I’ve asked forgiveness for my sins, God doesn’t see even one of them. They’re gone. Thus, He sees His child, His beloved, His holy one. He has blotted out those things that separated me from Him and remembers them no more. That truth makes me weep with joy and humility. Thank You, dear Father, for Your unfailing and unfathomable love. Let me walk worthy of You.
