Jesus prayed, “Thy will be done.” It can be so hard to pray for God’s will when everything within our human nature wants its own way. But praying God’s will rather than our own is a true statement of trust. It’s telling God we believe that He knows best. Before His crucifixion, Jesus asked to be spared the horrific death awaiting Him, but then He added, “Not My will but Yours.” If He’d not submitted to His Father’s will, we’d still be lost. Lord, teach me to pray…and to trust.
