When we sing the chorus based on this verse in church, we always start clapping. You can’t help it. The tune is light-hearted, the tempo fast-paced, and somehow your palms just find their way together on the beats of each measure (or, if you’re The Hubs, between the beats…). I like to think of clapping as applause. Applauding God for giving me another day, applauding Him for the joys He’s brought into my life, applauding Him for answered prayers and for roadblocks that sent me in a better direction and for the gift of salvation that is so beyond description no writer can ever express its worth. He has made this day! It is a gift! Rejoice in it! Be glad! He’s walking every minute of it with you, and in His presence is the fullness of joy.
