Years ago at a conference, Liz Curtis Higgs reminded the audience that when God looks at us He doesn’t think, “Oh, my, what is that???”; He thinks, “My creation! Ta-da!” We all laughed, but I have carried that reminder with me. I have a tendency to be too hard on myself, and I spent too many years worrying about not being good enough. But you know what? God created me with brown hair and blue eyes and a lack of athletic prowess. He knit me together in my mother’s womb, and who am I to question God’s hand of creation? He gave me LIFE, and as His child my focus should be living to glorify to Him rather than living to please myself or impress humans who will never love me the way He loves. You are wonderfully made by the Creator of the universe who breathed His breath into your lungs! When you’re feeling glum, say these words: “God loves me and that’s enough.” Then throw your arms wide, and proclaim “Ta-da!”
