Security now and forever

The Apostle Paul was fond of rhetorical questions. Earlier in the chapter, Paul stated several realities about a believer’s relationship with God—that we’ve been adopted into God’s family and are His children forever (in Jewish law, a man could disown his birth child but not an adopted child; adoption was a permanent bond). As His children, we are guaranteed redemption. Nothing and no one can steal that from us. To emphasize this guarantee, Paul reminds us what God gave up for us: His very own Son! A God who loves me enough to sacrifice His Son for my sin is a God who loves me enough to meet my needs. God provides for my security now and forever, thanks to Christ’s sacrifice.
