I spent too many years of my life striving for impossible-to-obtain perfection in a feeble attempt to be “good enough” for God. What I failed to realize is that when I accepted the gift of salvation offered by Jesus’ sacrifice on Calvary, it changed what God saw when He looked at me. The ugly stain that continued to haunt my view of myself wasn’t even visible to God —He only saw His redeemed. If it took perfection for us to work our way into Heaven, none of us would get there. Perfection cannot be reached by man. God, in His infinite love and mercy, understood our shortcomings, so He sent Jesus, the propitiation of our sin. I am saved by GRACE. Not because of anything I’ve done, but because of what He’s done. Grace…what an amazing gift.
