Moses built an altar, and he gave it a special name: “The LORD is my banner.” A banner was important. It was carried in front of an army and proclaimed the one for whom they were going to battle. If we call ourselves Christians, then we are called to carry high a banner that proclaims to whom we belong. I have to ask myself…do I wave my banner and invite others to become part of God’s army? Do my actions, attitude, and speech proclaim my Lord? Do I stand up and defend Him when others disregard Him? I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: the world needs to see faith in action so they know there’s something of value available to them. Raise your banner! Shout His name! You might be the only Bible someone has ever read.
