Isn’t it amazing how, at the height of a tragedy, hope rises? I’ve seen it so many times in my lifetime—on 9/11, after hurricanes or tornados or floods, after mass shootings (such as the one most recently in little Hesston, Kansas). Instead of hardship crippling the community, people come together with strength, dignity, and a determination to go on. I believe this ability to stand strong is more than human pride; I believe it is a gift from God. There’s no other explanation for peace in the midst of conflict than God bestowing it. If He can give peace after such a heartbreaking event as what we saw in small-town Kansas, then He can give it to you in the middle of whatever personal trials you are facing.
