It isn’t every night the sky is filled with angels! My cats don’t like thunder and lightning, and a host of angels would be even more startling. So of course the angel’s first order of business was to assure the shepherds they needn’t be afraid. Then wonderful words followed: Great joy, the promised Messiah, had come for ALL people. Even the lowly, the outcast, the stinky smelly ostracized shepherds. God spoke volumes by sending the angel to the lowliest of the lowly. Many people think they need to straighten up or change their ways and THEN seek God. Nope, not necessary. God loves us where we are. Loves us enough to send His Son to us. “Good tidings of great joy”–in a word, Jesus.
