The resurrection of Christ guarantees His victory! Jesus identified Himself to John using words God the Father used. He called Himself the First and the Last, stressing His eternality. He will NEVER die or concede His throne. He also referred to Himself as the Living One. The New Testament teaches that only God has immortal life, but Jesus, as God, also has this life. In I Cor. 15:3-4, Jesus proclaims, “I was dead, but look—I am alive forever and ever.” This goes to the very heart of the gospel. He isn’t referring to His past resurrection but to His present position. Death—a death He chose for us, suffering in our place–no longer has any claim on Him. He is eternally alive. We serve a risen Savior! No other “religion” can make such a claim. Because He lives, we can know Him personally. That is a joy beyond any other.
