In His presence

When I was a child and I was disobedient, the last place I wanted to be was in my parents’ presence. The shame of wrongdoing drove me to hide the wrong and myself, and it was miserable to be separated from them. The same applies for us as children of God. We long to be in His presence. We want to find peace in the refuge of His love. Our wrongdoing can make us hide away in shame. But if we strive to live in a way that glorifies Him, then we have no desire to hide from Him. Lord, help me choose wisely, speak kindly, and behave lovingly so I will bring glory to You and rest peacefully in Your presence.
