I took my pair of Bugaboos (middle daughter’s boys) to the grocery store with me the other day. They asked, “Gramma, if we’re good, can we have quarters for the vending machines?” I said, “How about being good just because it will make Gramma happy?” After a moment’s consideration, they agreed that was reward enough. Rewards can be a big deal—bonuses at work, extra recesses in school, candy or some other treats at home in response to appropriate behavior. God rewards us, too, when we truly seek to honor Him. He rewards us with His presence, His comfort, His peace and strength. He rewards us by preparing a place for us in Heaven. His rewards can’t be measured by human standards, but they are greater than anything this world can offer. For a satisfying, joy-filled life, seek Him. The return on your investment is immeasurable!
