For reasons I don’t understand, I’ve always loved fences. This one in Miami, Florida, was so unique in its construction. At first glance, I thought it was concrete, but when I got close I realized it was made of rocks. Tiny crustaceans and crystal-like elements were embedded in the coral-like stones. The evidence of past life made me think of all the generations of people who have lived before me. The details gave me a glimpse of God’s creation. As I brushed my fingers over the rocks and the curled shells from sea snails or clams, I felt close to the Maker of the universe. He’s never far away. All we have to do is stretch out our hand…and He is there.
