Consider the author of Psalm 116, King David. He was one of the Lord’s servants, but he wasn’t perfect. He committed adultery and even murder! Yet He wrote, “…God is full of compassion.” David had experienced God’s unconditional love and forgiveness. That same gracious compassion is offered to each of us, but I think we need to exercise caution about taking advantage of God’s willingness to forgive any sin. Instead of doing whatever we want to because “God loves me anyway,” we should try to live in a way that shows respect to God and His expectations for believers. Yes, He always loves, but how we pierce Him when we deliberately sin against Him.
