Good will towards men

Continuing our CHRISTmas focus this week, let’s examine a part of Luke 2:14–“…on earth peace, good will toward men.” How this world needs more good will toward men. Last week I witnessed the blatant mistreatment of a homeless man by two young men, and it broke my heart. I can’t understand deliberate cruelty of any kind. Why seek to hurt someone who is already hurting? I bought the homeless man a meal, but I wished I could so much more for him…like erase the hurtful moments inflicted by the thoughtless men. God sent Jesus to bring us peace, and peace comes from a lack of conflict. This world, because of the sin nature, will always have conflict. But we can bring moments of peace by performing deeds of good will, and hopefully our actions will pierce the dark cloud of sin and hurt with the light of God’s love. (Suggested carol: “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” by Charles Wesley.)
