Has someone ever told you, “Well, I have good news and bad news—which do you want first?” Most of us would take the bad first and end with the good. That’s kind of what Jesus did with His disciples—He told them the devastating news that He would be required (remember, this was all part of God’s plan!) to suffer at the hands of the Jewish leaders who rejected the truth of who He was and be put to death. Reeling with this unconsionable idea, I wonder if the disciples even heard the final statement that Jesus would be raised on the third day. Whether they heard it or not, we know it happened. We know that hope was not squashed that day at Calvary. Our Savior rose from the grave and lives forevermore. And if we claim Him as Lord, we will reside with Him for all eternity! That’s what I call good news.
