God originally planned a world where everything worked together in harmony. And He formed each of us with an inner desire to walk with Him. Man has created chaos, but God… God’s plan was and is very good. Life doesn’t work well when we ignore God and His original design for our lives. When we selfishly insist on doing things our way rather than seeking His will, we fall into sin. Sin distorts God’s original design. The consequence of our sin is separation from God in this life and for all of eternity. Sin leads to brokenness. There is evidence of this brokenness all around us. But it can serve a purpose. When we realize that life isn’t working, we look for a way out. We might run in lots of faulty directions and might fail trying to figure it out for ourselves. But eventually, the desire to escape our brokenness can lead us to a place of recognition: I need something greater than this world. And that’s where our soul is open to the good news of Jesus. God doesn’t want to leave us in our brokenness. So Jesus—God in human flesh—came to us. He came to rescue us, to do for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. He took our sin, our shame, to the cross and paid the penalty by His death. Thus, He opened the way to a relationship with God, where we will find our fulfillment.
