Freedom in Christ

The Apostle Paul wrote these words in a letter to the Corinthian church. What we have here is a paradox. Paul had proclaimed Jesus as his Savior, which freed him from the curse of sin, yet he gave himself fully into the service of the one he called Master. Part of his service was to become a servant to those he encountered, always with the purpose in mind of reaching them for Jesus. He didn’t do this to gain increased favor from God (as if that were even possible), but because he was so passionate about spreading the truth of who Jesus is. He knew that all the preaching in the world was meaningless if his actions don’t substantiate his words. Jesus came to serve; Paul set an example of service. Our freedom in Christ allows us to submit ourselves to Him in service.
