Since we have been raised to newness of life thanks to Christ’s atoning work at Calvary, we are now dead to sin and need to show it! We do this by living under the direction of the Holy Spirit, who will never direct us to do anything that goes against God’s standards for living (see the Ten Commandments). A Spirit-led life is one characterized by obedience to God and overflowing with His love for others. (Incidentally, His love is unconditional but doesn’t condone sin; He loves us too much to leave us in sin because He knows sin separates us from Him. Just an idle aside.) When we live in the Spirit, we live FOR Him while we walk this earth, and then we live WITH Him for all eternity. Walking in holiness takes effort on our part, but wow…the rewards are out of this world.
