I cringe when I hear people say flippantly, “So I fouled up. God still loves me.” Yes, He absolutely does love us. Nothing we do will ever change that. But as much as I love my children, when they do something wrong without any regard for what I’ve instructed or for how it will affect those who love them, it hurts my heart. God’s love is so much bigger than mine, so His hurt must be bigger, too, when His children deliberately stray into sin with the mindset that it doesn’t matter because God will still love them. Yes, we are covered by grace, but please don’t use God’s grace as an excuse to do whatever you want to. God gave us boundaries to keep us safe and to help us live without regret and painful consequences. Enjoy freedom from the regret caused by past sins, but please don’t take advantage of His grace.
