It’s been said that “clothes make the man,” and to a certain extent it’s true. My fifth grade students behaved completely differently on “dress up” day as compared to “pajama day”–something about attiring oneself in formal apparel leads to more formal conduct. As God’s people, we are instructed to clothe ourselves in conduct that leaves a positive impact on those we encounter. God asks us to take on the coverings of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. If we have Him on our inside, then these characteristics should show on the outside. And our treatment of others then leads the lost to the One who loves them dearly.
