When the Pharisees questioned Jesus about the most important of all the laws, He gave a simple answer: Love. Love God, and love others as yourself. When Christians choose love in place of anger or resentment or revenge or frustration or impatience, then we are not only honoring the “law,” we are honoring our Father. Love doesn’t mean turning a blind eye to wrong, On the contrary, the loving parent corrects his child when his behavior is inappropriate. Instructing others in a better, more holy, more God-honoring way to live is an expression of love, because we know that a God-honoring life is a fulfilled and joyful life. Of course, our instruction needs to come through the filter of love rather than condemnation. “They’ll know we are Christians by our love.”
