Always available

When my girls were little and they had a question, they would tug at my hand. I’d lean down to their level, listen to whatever troubled them, and respond accordingly. Even now that they’re all grown and have children of their own, I still get an occasional phone call: “Mom, can you talk?” and it’s like a little girl has hold of my shirt tail or fingers.

Sometimes when I’m burdened or confused, I—like a little child—tug at God’s hand. I can envision Him leaning down, tipping His ear to me, and saying, “All right, Kim, I’m listening. What’s going on?” He is my ever-present help in time of need. He never sleeps. He never goes on vacation. His cell phone battery never dies. As a loving, attentive Father, He is always available to His children. Go ahead—tug at His hand. He’s ready to draw near and listen.
