A soft answer

Have you ever witnessed rage? Maybe on the road, in a store or restaurant, or even in a home? Have you ever been the one who raged? We’ve seen lots of examples of rage and accusing words on the news lately. Everyone gets angry—it’s just one of our many emotions—but what we say when we’re angry has far-reaching consequences. It is so very important to use words with restraint because once uttered, they can’t be taken back. And one angry blast can invite another, and soon war wages. If encountered by an angry person, remember another Proverb: “A soft answer turneth away wrath.” Try it instead of responding in fury. Even if you aren’t able to completely diffuse the situation, at least you’ve set a better example that might make a difference in an observer’s life.
